Iran wearing the green, Iran Elections June 2009 "Evergreen" Song and a song dedicated to Neda Agha Soltan, Neda Agha SoltanOne may wonder why I would dedicate a song written for a wonderful young man Daniel To Neda? They were both artist and musicians of a similar caring and involved nature common to creative people on the endless quest for truth and excellence. They died at the approximate same age. When I wrote the song in the spring of 2009, I did not write it for Daniel alone.

I was compelled by the need to write this song and at first I wondered about my extended fixation and strong emotions that empowered the efforts. My eyes would well up with tears while seeking melodies that expressed my feelings. I had a feeling of knowing why at church, May 10 , Motherday. It was about a young man named Daniel, but it really was about a mother's deep love for her son. a love that all Mothers instinctively know. Idid think of Christ 's Mother Mary and the pain she felt. It was inspired by a mother's writings but what I composed was written for many mothers, fathers and friends whose loved ones crossed over to the other side at a young age, leaving us wonder, why them with all their potential and unfulfilled dreams. Why not us? I remember one time asking God to take me instead of a very young girl who was seriously ill with Cystic Fibrosis that I shared Lourdes water with and was praying for. He did not take either one of us. The Homage song was not written for Daniel alone. The song Daniel is dedicated to young people through out the world. Some died by accident, Some were young soldiers and other young civilians killed in the cross fires of wars spawned by hate, misuse of Religion to deny Individuals rights to freedom, as in Neda's case. All too often our city streets flow with the blood of the innocents created by random shots of gangs battling for control. Natural causes take their toll especially among those who have limited access to affordable care when serious condition prevail. It was inspired by what a caring mother, Carol Collette, an Internationally known artist and etcher, wrote about her beloved deceased son, Daniel who died in an accident in his twenties. Daniel to me is the personification of the high ideals of so many wonderful and gifted young people who preceded relatives and friends to the great High and By but will live on forever in their hearts and memories.  Carol ColletteI was compelled to write this song and Neda's death was an other affirmation why the feeling to focus my attention to it was so dominant? It was part of the tide of creativity that has been sweeping me along on a dedicated mystical journey. It was really about about a mother's deep love and loss. Over my life continuing span, I have written, composed and painted respectful homages in songs and paintings or those who have going their way. I have designed along with Father Dudah Memorial services that were held at the Carmel Mission Basilica for the 19 children who died in the Oklahoma City blast, writing a song for the service that Mission students sang along with me, "If we but give their spirit wings" as 19 different individual students lit Memorial candles for the deceased children. I did a special painting for an other Memorial service at the Mission for the challenger Crew and three other astronauts. The painting was brought down to the altar, 10 candles were lit and I gave a brief talk on going on and never giving up on your dreams.

The loss of innocents others as in Neda's case by the misuse of religion for violent purposes and control high light the need of returning to God's Universal Golden Rule. May Neda name, which means voice, sing & echo endlessly through out the night in every corner of Iran until it brings Peace of God's love to Iran.

May we remember the beautiful courageous spirit of Neda.Not the life ebbing bleeding body lying on the street in Iran. Remember Neda's beauty, whose very name means voice, as the artist who defied religious laws that would prevent her from cultivating her talent as a singer by taken forbidden singing lessons. Remember Neda as having the courage of a lioness and wings of a snow white dove. They are working on it in Iran and are outstanding examples of courage and sacrifice as some of these good people have given their lives working for change.I am dedicating My Evergreen Song to those wearing green in Iran. Ireland and every where. It's all about hope, dreams, and aspirations.
God is love, God is great. God is peace, the devil is hate.Green is the color of spring and rebirth. Green is the color of caring for the world we live in and love. We have green environment movements and activities to encourage good stewardship of Mother Earth. It is my hope and reason to direct my prayers for positive change through out the world, that we seek peaceful ways and intelligent honest dialog to solve problems rather than revert to the primitive use of force with advanced sophisticated weapons. Those who maintain control covertly by fear, force, dishonesty do so because the premises they project are weak and wrong. THe pursuit of truth and freedom is part of what I regard as a special gift God bestowed on man along with an innate sense of conscience to guide us to do His will.

God is peace, the devil is hate.At night In the cities of Iran, You hear an increasing raising chorus of voices, echoing from roof top to roof top, proclaiming God is great These voices honor God not man. In their annomonity they are like the wind that can harnessed for good but not stopped. They are like souls one can not see but their spirt is strong and God empowered with their love of God and His righteous ways. History is filled with gory pages that come about when God's name is invoked to provoke violence not promote the peace that can be found by adhering to the revered Golden Rule that is a positive factor in Religions through out the world. I see the Golden Rule alive and well in America, good people helping people. Their is a strong relevant need for the Traits connected to Orion's belt stars, Faith; Hope; Charity and some related traits, Unity; Sacrifice; Strength plus ; Fidelity; Kindness; Patience
 The Evergreen Song is dedicated to Good People especially the young, through out the world. It is a love song, Love of God and his peaceful ways, Love of a special some one, Love of your family, Love of your neighbor and your Country, Love of the world that God has created for us to car for. Do love yourself by being worthy, and inviting the Lord into your heart. May he bless the people through out the world , especially the young people of Iran in their pursuit of peaceful God filled aspirations. God is love, God is great. Evergreen Trees can be synonymous with love, hopes dreams and aspirations never ending. The Song traces the endless circle of love from it's early conceptions to love Eternal Everlasting Love combining the physical and spiritual. It is a love song of deeper eternal Love. Of all the songs that I have written, this song is one of deep meaning woven into symbolic visual imagery. It is a circle of love that starts from Heaven, a mountain wind that blows out of heaven to the earth below whispering in the Evergreen trees with hopes and prayers of dreams. I see a shaft of light breaking through the clouds beaming down on Lovers. Love then flows like a mountain stream cascading down the face of the mountain to burst into spray and clouds of mist in the valley below. From there love runs it course to the sea twisting and turning with each new bend of river as it runs to the sea. Love meld with the ocean and becomes one with the tides rising and falling in all kinds of weather and challenges that Lovers experience. Love meld with the tide, to become waves caressing the shore. There are times when giant waves crash on rock bound coasts The spray is transformed into white doves that soar heaven ward and life's journey takes love back to where it emanated from in the first place Heaven, With prayer Love can be a gift from God to help you find happiness and joy and become a living part of part of the endless circle of eternal love. Love is a gift from God, in the same way His Son was. It is filled with joy but no stranger to pain. When it fall, true love will rise again and know heaven on earth until it complete the circle in heaven. Some will know of what I speak of. They have been blessed by God with the gifts of passion balanced by compassion, Love filled with care. Joy and sorrow until they are rejoin and their own virtues. There was a long Island folk group who wanted to record it on an album their manager Simon of Simon and combining was producing. I was sailing at the time and not around to sign the release forms. The song was designed to be sung by multiple voices in free harmonies, wave after wave never ending. I sang it one time at the town dock at Edgartowne at Martha's Vineyard Massachusetts where the yacht that I was working on was tied up. Every night after work I would bring my guitar out and play and sing. I was joined by more and more people with guitars each night. The third night was magical. It was a warm misty foggy night. We had about forty or fifty people who sang and played along. I gave them vocal parts, dividing them into male and female parts for contrast and they improvised. The song drifted out over the harbor like never ending waves of mystic echoes. The next line would begin while the last note of the preceding line was held in harmony. It was an ethereal experience. "True love is like the evergreen tree, always green with the hopes and prayers of dreams." I have feeling that God may have found favor at times with my Music and Art.
