Heart Health April 24, 2009 Music for Your Heart Studies show music has a positive effect It seems the music that soothes the savage beast also helps your heart, according to a new review. The reviewers found that mellow music of your choice seems to have the most benefit. Another small study found that joyful music also helps the heart. Yet another study touted the benefits of music in helping stroke victims recover. Now that is something to sing about! Plus: Check out the latest in Health Beat, our new, newsy health blog. After reading the above I stopped at a Target store and saw a Casio lighted Keyboard that had a 100 built in familiar songs with lights on the keyboard that show you the order of the piano keys to play. I recalled giving a small keyboard to my sister that had some built in songs in hope that it would help her overcome the associated stroke problems that require a relearning process. I gave another of the same keyboard to an autistic child I was fond of. Again hoping it would help him in some small way. But those keyboards did not compare to the potential of the Casio lighted keyboard. I mentioned Casio first as it was the first one that I tried and the attractiveness of it's reasonable price planted the seeds of the idea of using it for therapy. There are other including Yamaha that manufacture lighted keyboards and they may have models at competitive prices. There are lower priced ones to investigate for your purpose. I have a Yamaha PS9000 that is not lighted but I dearly love for it's ease of use. Having empathy for Kids with autism and being aware that some will have unique potential artistic gifts to develop had me wondering if those who work professionally on therapy with autistic children would evaluate the potential of using lighted keyboards as a developmental tool in positive e growth therapy . The training could happen at their session but could be continued at home by the parents relatives and friends if the Kids respond to it. Can therapy be aided by the Casio or other lighted keyboards. 61 key Casio lighted keyboard is available at Target for $129 dollars. The key to be struck will light up. I am under the impression that it will wait until you play that note. The Keyboard has 100 song and different instruments and rhythms. As an artist musician I am aware All the arts are interrelated and can release tension, bring pleasure, develop discipline and response and hopefully improve the the prevailing condition of those who will respond to it. Different strokes for different folks. There are some that it will help. Have their therapy instructor advise you on it potential use.

The Eyes of a ChildThis song for loving parents concerned with their children's welfare and future. I love this song and cool looking little Kid who inspired it Look into hiis eyes in the picture and you would have to be blind not to know what I mean! lI was inspired by the young child who visited my studio In Pebble Beach with his parents, Rebecca and Dylan Caine , who were close friends of Carly , my poet friend from Australia. I commented to them That Issac had a serious look of wisdom on his face. While I was in the process of writing the song I was also inspired by a neighbor hood Child named John, a young Autistic Child with a big smile and lively happy eyes and abundant energy who enjoys running down down to visit me. John loves to explore my home, art and music studio and Guppy tanks In both case The children had loving parents to appreciate the love and trust the child had for them. My phone was out of order for couple of days so I went to my neighbor friend, Jon's Dad to call At&T to inform them of the problem. He had tickets for a kick off fundraiser party and auction for an Autism Awareness Center put together by Kent, Jon Father-in Law and asked if I would like to attend. I told him I would like to but I had prior plans for Saturday that involved a trip to Salinas and did not think I could make it. While waiting for the phone repair man I decided that the least I could do was bring over one of my prints for the auction. Before the evening was over I decided I would do more by practicing what I suggest in My All Truism concept. Instead of one print I decided to contribute Three and do a commission painting with the entire cost going to the proposed Center for Autism Awareness.

I prepared the story board with examples of my work and designed and created a label for CDS that they could auction off along with the prints and commission work. I came up with a creative idea that would make the cds Valuable in the auction as they would entitle the individuals who paid for them at the auction to 25 % off any work of art from my $65 Mini Prints to Originals with a top end of $38000. So they had a range of potential value from $15 dollar plus into the thousands. ![]()
I was burning the cds until 2AM Saturday Morning and working on them and working on the display until 4PM when I left to get them to the Kick off party before the auction. THe party was going on full tilt, loud volume with a live band and singers. I was informed that the auction was called off because of the low number of people attending. Later in Conversation with Jon's Dad He said I was about the only one to arrive with auction Items. He said Kent had raised $ 1800 in donations and had about 300 dollar left after expenses of renting the place, etc. Kent the ex father-in_ said He put it together in four days. Well he did put on a good party But I left with what is the Center for Autism Awareness about. I am not sure that even Jon's dad knew what the concept for the center for Autism was all about. I agree with Jon's dad that kent who drives his Grandson with autism to different activities is well meaning, But they could have a fundraiser in Jon's home with minimal expense. It was nice to get out for change even though I am not fond of electronic music that is loud and blaring, it great to dance to but forget about conversation. I prefer acoustics unplugged. The good thing is is my story board for charity programs is completed . All I have to do is change the 8 by 10 information sheet in the upper center. ![]() To download this MP3 right click the song's title and select 'save target as'. |
