My original songs are coupled with my efforts to help others. They reflect heart felt sincerity and honesty. I don't just write them , I live them by living up to them by putting into practice what I advocate.

In 2012 ,Wounded Warrior Project, (www.woundedwarriorproject.org) is continuing doing a great on going job serving Wounded Veterans Disabled Vdeterans and their families and Gold Star Families of those who made the Supreme Sacrifice .

Legacy of Honor Hero Scholarships. I shared the following with many in the Military and Government and a form of it has became a reality.

Salute them with sincerity. It’s your tour of duty now. It is your turn for sacrifice. Don’t let them stand alone. This is not political. When it comes to honoring our heroes we are not the red or blue states. We are the United States. It is our time to do more than wave flags. God Bless America!

Did some one from your area make the Supreme Sacrifice in the Mid-East or Iraq war? Were there others who were disabled? May you be able to reach out with love and support to their children and dependents like other cities did during the 1991 Gulf war? They adopted the educational responsibility of children whose parents were killed or disabled. The scholarships could also extend to disabled veterans and their immediate family.

I would like you to evaluate with a caring heart a unique way to honor those who were so young they never had the chance to marry and start a family. The education that was promised to them went unclaimed. The only education they learned is that war stops lives and dreams.

There were many young men and women who joined the services for the education they would receive. Some of our young fallen and disabled heroes were right out of High School. More of our soldiers come from families of modest means who would have difficulty in affording a top notch education at a major college.

In the case of those who were taken from this life at so young an age those they did not have the opportunity to start a family, a posthumous scholarship would be awarded to sisters or brothers? If they were an only child the grieving parents could select the person who would receive the scholarship which would bear the name of the hero.

Educationial Transfer is like an organ donor who gives someone else the gift of life

The siblings of our deceased heros will not have to put their lives at risk for the purpose of bettering their lives by increasing their potential for a fuller life by improving their education. The American Dream can be elusive to those at the lower end of the financial spectrum.

The war in the Mid-East has been a war where true sacrifice and loss for the majority was limited. The majority of loss was shouldered by minorities and families of modest means. Too many times men and women pulled their tours of duty and made it home safely, only to be called up again. Some of these never returned home alive. America was built on sacrifice and courage. It is our time to step up and do our part.

The Marine Scholarship Foundation is an excellent example to emulate.

Form a committee in your church to work with other faiths and service groups in your community to develop the noble agenda of creating an educational fund or foundation. If this is to be a truly American effort, it must involve us all in making a small sacrifice. If only everyone in a city would give a little. We would rise up in the spirit of loving our Country, out of the many one. E PLURIBUS UNUM.

It could bring together the community with a common compassionate cause unifying and strengthening America. It is time to put the Red or Blue States behinds us and acknowledge who and what we are. We are the Red White and Blue United States. We are in need of national healing, putting political divisions aside. Our hero’s dependents and disabled veterans are in need of our healing help! Too many veterans end up on the streets. Salute them with sincerity. It’s your tour of duty now your turn for sacrifice. Don’t let them stand alone… God Bless America!

"Putting Living Human Being Faces on cold lifeless statistics ".

This plan can heal America while it heals and assist in the fulfillment the dreams of our deserving Veterans. To keep it free of partisan politics it would be sponsored by bipartisan Past Heroes who received a Purple Hearts, who after serving in the Military now serve or have served their Country in politics. May you write some of them and ask them to exercise their leadership. Prominent among them are Vice Pres. Dole; Sen. John Mc Caine; Sen Kerry; Sen. Inouye; Rep. Murtah; and the Gentleman from Georgia who lost his reelection bid. There are many others I may not be aware of their Purple Heart awards.

The primary idea is a personal home page focusing on injured Veterans and the needs of Gold Star families who lost a loved one to war. Some of these individuals do not have the advantage of having a community prepared to help them. Through the use of a few photos that could be interchangeable and their personal mission statements about future dreams and the reason behind them. With the Aid of photograph and possible videos, the veteran and their families would be come a human realty that could touch the hearts of other Americans to reach out and help them. It is effective concept of an updated home page that would create a place where you can find and direct your aid to help a specific deserving Veteran of your choice. These individual need your all around all American support.

It is not enough to have a Congressman in the House read off the name of a soldier who was injured or who made the supreme Sacrifice from their district. This bipartisan action plan could involve the public to take respect to a real level of tangible support that goes beyond surface patriotic display or political posturing that serves a political party more than injured soldiers and families who need your help. . A parade in town and the waving of Flags for a returning injured Veteran or perhaps the flag draped coffin of a local young man who made the Supreme sacrifice does more for those who stand along the roadside than the injured Veteran or the family of the deceased. It should provide the impetus for positive action programs to come to the fore.

I read about Lt. Eddie Rebrook how they cut away his bullet proof vest when he was being airflifted from the battlefront with a very serious arm injury that threathened the loss of his arm. He had to borrow $700 to pay the Army for that vest before he could be discharged. He stated , “When I was in the Army I learned how to hurt people. Now I want to become a re-constructive surgeon, to help others.” I am sure it was a result of both the care he received and witnessing the plight of fellow injured soldiers in the Veteran hospital and how the surgeons gave them hope and a new lease on their lives. I was moved by that statement to send him $1000 to help Eddie realize that dream. I dedicated that gift to the Ft. Ord VA Clinic of Monterey, California, in appreciation of the wonderful care they extended to me.

This was written back in 2006, I am not sure what path Eddie chose. I do not think he became a surgeon. I will write him and see what he is up to. I am sure he will do well. There is more to troop support than sticking a decal on your car, waving a flag or flag pin on your lapel. There are many communities who have done wonders for our returning soldiers. Building Homes for injured. veterans and other positive compassionate action that reached out directly to the Veterans and their young families. Their positive examples would also be amplified on this home page so others could follow their example individual realize their dreams. It would be coupled with an approach to have the alumni from Universities that specialize in varying areas of expertise establish hero scholarships that would be matched up with the injured Veterans dreams and potential. If you have surgeons friends, see if they can help Eddie acquire a Medical scholarship. Life is more of a challenge for these young people. The home page with photos will give them a presence that will be longer than a news story for a day. It could jump start their lives and potential! Do what you can to have this become a reality.

It is time for young and old Americans to come together and stand side by side, with hearts filled with love for America, Out of the many One.

"America"

<

"America".

This First song is a timely song for America and all Americans.

"America" Out of the many one. I love this song and the positive aspects of America that it portrays. “ When we come together out of many one, the beauty of America shines brighter than the sun.

,

We came from every Country, from all around the world.

We all stand tall with love and pride when Old Glory is unfurled

With Hearts filled with love, together side by side.

When we come together, out of many one

The beauty of America, shines brighter than the sun

With heart filled with love, together side by side.

The last two words in American is I can,

We can change America, for the better, for every man

All the colors of the rainbow, The fabric and the strands

Woven by the hand of God, into the dreams of this great land

With Hearts filled with love, together side by side.

Standing tall with love and pride for the Red White and Blue

For traditions of diversity, Proven tried and true

All political persuasion, life styles religions too,

Including those who don't believe

They are All Red White and Blue

When we come together, out of many one

The beauty of America, shines brighter than the sun

With heart filled with love , together side by side.

Growing pains and sacrifice, line our Country's face

There are those who gave their lives and those who gave us grace.

Brave men who speak the truth, to safe guard liberty

Men who shared their dreams, that all men should be free

When we come together, out of many one

The beauty of America, shines brighter than the sun

With heart filled with love , together side by side.

United we stand Out of the many one, Out of the many one.

Freedom and intolerence can not co exist in America.

Young and old Americans must come together to insure the beauty of America shines brighter then the sun!

When Johnny goes Marching On

Back in the Sixties, while others were writing Peace songs I was writing Patriotic Songs about Patrick Henry, ”Give me Liberty or Give me Death” and had a JFK quote in the song. JFK said Neither Dead or Red.

I organized Hootenannies in a Roslyn Long Island, New York Tea Room and encouraged people with different points of view to share them with the public through the medium of song. I have always had this feeling that in trouble times, one of the most dangerous things America faces is a room where every body is in lock step agreeance with out balancing ideas that may be different from theirs. It encourages a wolf pack mentality.

My Johnny comes marching home again is one that I use to perform with a Kingston trio type of young New York men at American Legion Meetings and even in Greenwich Village, N.Y.

I use to sing with a young banjo player, Skip (Alexander) not sure of his last name now. His Father was in the FBI and we even had a positive song about the FBI the son wrote in our repertoire. There was a neat young lady who played clarinet, but not when she performed with us. She sang unique harmonies and musical rifts that a clarinet would do with her voice.

Being More involved with the New Testament and Christ's Teachings has led me to write Peace Songs along with my Patriotic songs. My basic approach and belief is in this Inscription, That I created for my gift to NATO when we had a major NATO Conference In Monterey. I received Thank You letters for the art and the inscription from President Reagan and Sec. of Defense Weinberger a long with a Siver commemorative Plate of Thanks from the Pentagon as they received the art work too.

"May the Common Goals of Peace and Understanding be Assured through Mutual Respect, Unity and Strength!

My Johnny Come marching home parody that I wrote for my Dad who was Missing In Action in World War Two, became a homage to JFK when I added a new verse.

The drums they tolled a mournful dirge as the Caisson rolled their way, followed by a jet black horse rider less that day.

It grew to become a homage to the shipmates of the USS Cole and the Navy goes sailing on.

In care of an angel.

I wrote a beautiful song Care of an Angel while working on this painting. It was the fourth one of a series of angel paintings. The subtle emphasis is on an angel with her protective hands on the shoulders of a soldier keeping him safe while he is in harms way. It was inpired by a soldier , a Major in Iraq, whose wife purchased him one of my seascapes with an angel in. My Mom and I have been into angels for years. It is the North end of Carmel point looking toward Pebble Beach. I am dedicating this song and painting to the families of the world, Moms, Dads and children. It matters not whether the children are in cribs at home, or on the battle lines in some foreign land. There are always times when we need extra special loving care from above. May all your children be in care of a special Angel.

Dedicated to our soldiers fighting in foreign lands, and their families at home praying for their safe return. This is a significant Christmas Family Love song for the Men and Women of our Armed Forces.

"Let us raise our voice in prayer"

This song was worked on as a prayer offering while changing the painting. " In Care of an Angel". We lost a great number of soldiers in June, I refocused my efforts working on a song as prayer offering for our soldiers in hopes that our losses will be minimized.

A quote from General Frank " Sadly, George J Bleich, that's not true for many of our veterans who were wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. Many of them will be in wheelchairs for the rest of their lives. Others have lost limbs or eyes or were seriously burned or suffered other injuries and will never be the same as they were before the war.

Now Inspred by Christ's Commands of Love, I am writing Peace songs along with my Patriotic songs. My approach is in this Inscription,

"May the Common Goals of Peace and Understanding be Assured through Mutual Respect, Unity and Strength!

It is the purity of intent of individuals whose actions have the good of all Americans at heart, who are not afraid to go against the flow of the powerful or the many and make waves in the interest of America's legacy of freedom for one and all.

It is in the inspirational charisma and leadership of Individual wave maker who are gifted with tand inspire others to take positive action steps. In my own life, John F. Kenndy. and my Dad, Harry Bleich who was Missing in Action did that for me and inspired me to try to be a better American with the interest of all Americans in my heart and drives my creative efforts to this day in the new dawn of my life at 76, to Stand Tall on Principles, Do My Duty, and reach out with compassion to others in need in America.

To insure America's finest concepts of freedom, We can not tremble in Fear, we must rally and work against divisive intolerance.

Religion and politics, Render unto Caeser the things that are Caeser's and to God the things that are God's

You would have to be a bit deaf , dumb and blind not to be aware of the sorry state of American and International politics, of the lies, spins and divisiveness that seperate people passionately into opposing camps where mistrust rules the day. Unfortunately when People allow Politics to become a primary agenda in Churches that same infectious virus can delutes the church's primary purpose and message including Loving other's as Jesus loves you . History documents the problems that follow when churches become embroiled in politics. The Illuminating Light of God's love and truth should be above the fray not over shadowed by politics.

I wrote the first version of Johnny in memory of my dad, Captain Harry Bleich MIA in World War Two.

The the Jet black horse rider less that day section is dedicated to John F. Kenndy. My Dad, Captain Harry Bleich and JFK were my influences and sources of courage and inspiration through out my life. Be a hero of one in your decisions. Follow through with courage! The Navy goes sailing on section was dedicated to the Crew of the USS Cole and my dad who was missing in action in the North Atlantic in World War Two . Memories of my dad's last letter home.

Johnny Goes Marching On

Americans have always responded with courage and sacrifice in service to their country and mankind. For the families of the Firemen and Policemen, individuals in the Service in times of war, this song has an uplifting and comforting message. The torch of freedom is handed down to every man that we will all be free as America goes marching on. This patriotic song spans the decades from 1942 to current time and beyond. It was written in My Father's Memory, who was missing in action MIA, Dec. 7, 1942 in the North Atlantic. New words were added later honoring the memory of the crew of the USS COLE. Some of the terrorists who were involved the attack on the USS Cole were involved in the Attack on America. Sang by, written, arranged, and played by George Bleich on a Yamaha Psr 9000

This is dedicated to all Fathers especially those whose fathers died here or in some distant part of the world seperated in the passing while away from their family. There were many young men who had very young children that made the Supreme Sacrifice in the Service of America who inspired my Honary Scholarship Idea that eventually became a reality with a different name. I was Six Years of age when my own father was missing in Action in the North Atlantic over 60 years ago and I still feel the deep blue pain 60 plus years later. If your father is still alive give him a call, tell him you love him .It will be far better than a rose placed on his coffin later...

"9/11/2001"

What happened on 9/11 was horrendous. It's was a tragedy that finally was laid to rest a decade later when Bin Laden finally paid the price for his crimes. You have to give credit to the bravery of the Seal Commandos and the Genrals in charge and decision of the President as Commander in Chief approving the action that finally with finality took Bin Laden down. This patriotic song uses 9/11/2001 as a battle cry to rally the spirit of America for the long haul in our fight against terrorism. It reflects on the attack on the World Trade Center. It recalls the battle cries of past wars. These cries strengthen our resolve, courage and sacrifice in America's never ending battles to ensure freedom throughout the world. We all have different reasons to respond to what happened in New York. I use to live in Queens in New York City, Glen Cove and Locust Valley out on Long Island. This is just my heart felt response. I found myself doing the song over and over as it brought up old memories of my Dad who was MIA in World War 2 in the North Atlantic and He shipped out of New York on that Trip. The song was really dedicated to all those who lost their lives in the service of America from the Alamo to Normandy.

If Johnny Cash came back today.

Johnny Cash always looked out for those in need and was truthful and fearless in expressing his views . He used his heart for all men and a special place for those who had problems. He was an uncommon man with a heart for the common man. May we all follow in that American tradition of reaching out to those in need.

Revised version, July 23 of Johnny cash dedicated to our soldiers who served the military, To those who gave their lives and to those who will bear the scars of war until their final days. Some will live in increasing physical pain as those with agent Orange and the Gulf War syndrome. There is a grave risk of conceiving deformed children. Tumors will keep appearing. Their teeth enamel will start to disintegrate as will their general health.

I am dedicating the song to an attractive young couple James and Kelly Simpson of West Virginia. James has what appears to be Gulf War syndrome. A former student at Defense Language Institute. He left West Virginia with his wife Kelly to seek work in the Monterey area in a 1968 pick up truck that once belonged to his grandfather. James said there was not much construction work in the mining town where they lived.

While camping in the desert in Arizona in proximity to an Indian reservation. They were robbed of money, belongings and power tools. Through the help of Veteran groups along the way they made it to Monterey. I met them in my gallery and they told me they were advised to go to Oregon as the cost of living was low and their was work to be had. They asked for a business card to write down the name of one of my master touch works "morning on the seine" that they really admired. They said they would order one when they got back on thier feet financially. They were a nice young couple who had more then their share of problems. I took it off the wall and said "no need to write the name down". Morning on the Seine is yours. They touched my heart.

James and Kelly Simpson of West Virginia, A loving couple with a Bleich work of art to brighten up their lives

I treated them to lunch and invited them to my home the following evening for dinner. I had a friend, Surfer John, who had his own construction Company over to meet them. He advised them to not to go to Oregon. John said, he may have an opening for James a finish carpenter in the near future. They had some interim work lined up, first at the campground where they were staying caring for the Viet Nam veteran section during the motorcycle races at Laguna Seca. Than James was to go out fishing until the end of Salmon Season and Kelly was lining up waitress work. They spent a couple of days with me in an open loft that is part of my studio. It was a major improvement from Camping in a tent, especially during the foggy weather that lingered awhile. I offered to let them stay longer until they could afford a place. They evidently found accommodation that they could afford or were extended to them.

What impressed me was how the working people came to their aid. A mechanic helped repair their brakes for far less than the actual cost should be. He also made contact with some other construction friends in their behalf. It seemed as if most of the people who helped were also Christians who lived their religion by reaching out to others in need. I fall into that category also. I recently signed a letter of condolence to a lady who lost a love one, .Love George ( in the wonderful open way of loving and caring for those who enter my sphere even if just passing through) It is a bit of the Golden rule in action.

I contacted a few TV stations and the Monterey Herald to see about the possibility of a human interest story about James and Kelly. Unfortunately too many people sometime look at Veterans who have falling off the world as the dregs of humanity. They are looked upon with suspicion as Bums, drug addicts, alcoholics, crazies. They do not take into consideration Post traumatic stress or how the medication for pain can lead to other addictions.

Some times I wish the individuals who wave flags as a show of support for our troops would do a little more than that. They should take an interest in what happens to our Veterans, when They come home from combat zones. That they insure our heroes have the proper treatment for an array of health and mental problems that war can create. I get a bit angry at some young under thirty years of age who bravely say we are going to go and kick their ass over there. They don't go anywhere! They have their posh jobs and an easy life in the comfort zone. They drive a Hum bee with a license plate boldly declaring US is number One. They probably play make believe games that they are driving in Iraq when they are the terror on California Freeways.

There are many in the reserve and National Guards who are true unselfish Americans who put themselves at risk in serving their Country Valiantly. I am troubled when those who did their part by fulfilling their military obligations and were relieved to have made it home safely are called back into the service after they were honorably discharged and have their families once more praying that they will make it back home again safely.

Unfortunately some will die, Other will be injured and other like James will be afflicted with mysterious ailments that defy reasonable medical explanations. The Doctors are at a loss. What will really haunt their families are that the original reasons for the war was found to be untrue. There were no weapons of mass destruction or al-Qaeda ties. Don’t let our Veterans stand alone, speak out about the proposal to reclassify new injuries to remove them from qualification for disability. If you area true American and supported the Iraq war, you better dam well support our Veterans too! Don’t let them stand alone!

We are not the Red or Blue States.
We are the United States

This was another earlier effort when I had my gallery in Carmel

Bring your community together through your Church or Service or Business organization to show your love and respect for those who went to War and who paid the price! We must Honor the heroics of our soldiers, and reach out and attend to the needs of their families who stand alone in their grief. Billions of dollars flow into Iraq each year. let us make sure our veterans and their families are not at the back of the line put our American soldiers and their families first. Carmel Ca. provided an excellent example of How one city helped a National Guardsman John Hanson and his family by making up the difference in his salary as a maintenance worker for the city and his military pay. He thanked the city and his friends for supporting his family emotionally and financially while he was overseas. Unfortunately there are many Reservist and National Guardsmen and their families who never received that support and there were times that were documented, even their military pay was delayed creating more financial problems for their families at home. Unfortuantely they did not continue to do that when He returned on his second or third tour. John was a good man, an exceptional one.

Golf pro Phil Mickelson has contributed Hundreds of Thousands of dollars for Homes for disabled Veterans by giving money for each birdie, eagle etc. Some people talk the Support talk , Phil is walking the walk with our Disabled Veterans. Other Sport heroes could do the same in their own area of endeavors. Others Sport’s Heroes could also be a real American heroes. It would serve America if Star players, Teams and Cities came together and started Hero Scholarship funds. They may salute troops and give survivors some free tickets. That talking the talk, not walking the walk that dependents and children of our fallen heroes walk alone. Do you think the National Football League should start a Pat Tillman Memorial Educational Fund for the children of our real heroes? Start an E-mail Campaign to encourage them to do it. Sport heroes, Entertainers are weighed down with gold chains. Soldiers families are weighed down with pain and Purple Hearts.

University alumni could establish Memorial Scholarships at their former Universities. A certain number could be reserved for heroes dependents. A great number of young Americans went straight from High School into the military lured by the promise of an education & more opportunities after they full filled their military obligations. Memorial scholarships could help their brothers and sisters realize the American Dream that escaped our fallen heroes.

Post Traumatic Stress is a word to some but not to the wife and children of the South Carolina State Trooper Sloss, who returned from Iraq troubled and committed suicide while she tried to stop him in vain. A recent study showed one in four returning vets had war related mental problems . With some it led to violence to self or loved ones . It is not easy to kill some one even an enemy. The emotional pain is more complex when you witness the horror of seeing a soldier having his limbs blown off. It happen too often leaving them and their families in need of support. You may come to the aid of a dying soldier and you do all you can to keep him alive but can’t. Deep down you thank God that it was not your time to go. There is a psychological price to pay for the constant danger of those who patrol the streets or driving down a road where so many have been killed by roadside bombs.

Homes for disabled Veterans is one of their foremost needs.

Go to the home page of Brian Kolfage, www.briankolfage.org Brian is one of 3 triple amputees injured in Iraq. You can help his new wife Nikki Grounds acquire a home in Arizona to restart their lives and dreams. Let us do more than Flag wave and stick support troop decals on our cars! They gave their limbs and lives! We can do more! We can Support the Disabled Veteran Home Building Organization that Phil Michelson of the PGA supports. We can and should reach out to People Like Brian and Nikki Kolfage and other disabled Vets.

Congress was in the process of changing Death Benefits from $6000 to $100,000 and providing insurance fir those in combat situations to provide even more. It has been long overdue. When my Dad was missing in Action, in World War two in the North Atlantic in 1942, we received $5000. To find out it has only gone up $1000 in 62 years is a disgrace! We lose many outside of war zones in training and vigilant protection of our borders.

During the 1991 Gulf War I passed out Material encouraging cities to adopt the Educational Responsibilities of Dependents of Armed Forces who were lost in that war. A number of cities did. I contributed over $1300 to the Marine Scholarship Foundation in that behalf. (It is not a lot of money to some, but it was to our family at the time) They have a wonderful organization that has been active for years raising funds for Marine dependents through Golf Tournaments and other fund Raisers. They are an excellent role model!

The actor Denzel Washington while entertaining troops visited a center that was set up for the families of injured troops to stay while they visited their loved ones. He was informed that they needed more centers. He asked what did a place like this cost. He wrote a check for the full amount of one!

We can’t do what he did but we should do what we can!

It is easier to be a hero in an instant, then face death and danger, every day of your working life. Put America and American Vets first and Foremost.

A Concept to take back from Carmel to you City and Home State. If you do anything to support troops, Veterans, and their Families I will contribute art in that behalf.

George J Bleich

Legacy of Honor Hero Scholarships

On the web site http://icasualties.org/oif/ there is a map of the US showing which states have suffered Causalities. There are also stories on our heroes on site. If your area did not suffer losses that does not mean you do not have a responsibility to do your part. This effort should be by all true Americans. They should be led and encouraged by those in Government, some who were heroes in past wars.

Nov.11, 2004, Veterans Day and Memorial Day became one when 11 soldiers died today.

Carmel’s Memorial Garden salutes our Veterans of past wars and our Troops in harms way today.

The Carmel Memorial Prayer Garden that once abounded with Poppies and an array of flowers is now transcending in spirit and soul. The souls of our soldiers rise like smoke from the battle field leaving their families behind.

The Prayer stone was removed by the City. Here today gone tomorrow, like too many of our brave soldiers. The day before it was 1144. 1146 were reported by 2 in the morning. That number will climb with the rising sun. Veteran Day is Memorial Day to those who lose love ones. By 10 AM the numbers climbed, painfully reaching 1149. By 10 in the evening it was 1155 that died. Veterans Day is Memorial Day for dads and moms and children, for widows left behind. Nov.11th 2004, the day Veteran day became Memorial Day, 11 American Soldiers died in Iraq.

I replaced the Prayer Stone with an American flag and prayer board that requested we pray for our Soldiers in the Mid-East who made the Supreme sacrifice. That we support our Veterans and Families of Disabled Veterans.

Having lost my own father, MIA in World War Two I know and feel deeply their families pain.It is like Chinese water torture except it is not water but the blood of young and old soldiers, One drop of life at a time.

The tree that once supported Nasturtiums climbing to new heights is now just a stump. It was cut down by the city as time and war with the elements have taken their toll. It is like a missing friend, a reminder of Soldiers who lost their lives and other veterans who lost their limbs in battle.

The remaining tree is ill as pine beetles ravage it. You can see the sign on its bleeding bark. It too is dying. It is not unlike our Veterans who bear the cursed effects of Agent Orange and Gulf War syndrome. There are problems arising for our Veterans who served in Iraq in the past and some soldiers on duty there now. They are alive but their dreams and health are withering. The dreams of returning to America and starting a family seem dangerous for some. Goodbye to the dreams of healthy Children. So many of their newborns have had birth defects as a result of exposure to the elements of war, Chemicals, Depleted uranium shells and other unknown toxins that will forever affect their future. The rising tide of violence committed by soldiers against their own families has raised questions of concern of why…

Salute our heroes, our men and women in the Armed Forces. We must do more than wave flags or place wreaths on graves. Support them and the offspring of those who gave their lives and others who have become disabled by war. Support them financially and in any real way you can. There were cities in America that started hero scholarship funds for the children of Our American Heroes who gave their lives and limbs and health serving our Nation, during the 1991 war. Why not provide the leadership to start a fund or foundation for that purpose in your own home town or city! Look up Veterans on internet and be supportive of our Veteran’s well-being. Don’t let them or their dependents stand alone they have made sacrifices. It is time that we do too!

Pray for them please. I pray for those in pain who have experienced loss by painting new tears flowing down the face of Christ. Christ being all knowing shares their pain. Some day in the future we must all know we are all God’s Children. I started this never ending painting while writing the song "Man in Black". It was a Peace song dealing with Israel and Palestine, when Manger Square and the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem was under siege around Christmas time. My resolution for the New Years was to be a creative voice for Peace. I focused on the strife between Israel and Palestine. This was before the Iraq war was started. I wrote 2 other songs, Children of Abraham and Curse of Cain. It is far better to pray and work for peace than to rush to war. Blessed are the Peacemakers. Thou shall not Kill.

There is an out of Season Poppy in the garden waiting in cool tears of rain to bloom. I was caring for it and watching it grow, wondering when it would bloom. If you pass by the garden and find the poppy has defied the cold and opened for you, search for the poem "In Flanders Field" by Lt. Col, John McCrae…

“We are the Dead. Short days ago we lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved, and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. “

"Poppy has bloomed, we are now at 1232 casualties"

On Nov. 11th, 2004, Veteran day became Memorial Day when 11 American Soldiers gave their lives in Iraq. We lost 50 soldiers in the last 5 days. Start a legacy of Honor scholarship fund for the children of deceased soldiers and those handicapped and unable to fulfill the dreams of their children‘s education. Insure first class scholarships for our disable veterans, if everyone in a city gave a little it could be done. They gave so much! A fraction of what was spent slinging mud during the last political campaign would have been far better spent fulfilling a hero’s dream.

Salute them with sincerity. It’s your tour of duty now your turn for sacrifice. Don’t let them stand alone… God Bless America!

A Memorial song for our Veterans “ America goes marching On.”
